Secrets of Barcelona

One of Spain's Greatest Private Art Collections

Francisco Godia was a famous local businessman who was known to have good taste in all things related to art, not to mention his unrivaled passion for cars. In 1999, his daughter, Liliana Godia, set up the Francisco Godia Foundation in a very humble apartment in Carrer de Valencia. The Francisco Godia Foundation held exhibtions open to the public where they would put on display not only Francisco's collection, but also ones made by independent artists who wanted to showcase their talents to the world. In addition to that, they included various arts and crafts workshops intended for children and students to let their imaginations run wild.

After operating in Carrer de Valencia for over nine years, the foundation finally found the means to move into a better, improved building, the one formerly known as Casa Garriga. This new location gave the foundation the means to put much more on display, with the estimated total of art pieces on display being around 1500, and these include paintings, works of pottery, sculptures, and more.

* As of today, the Francisco Godia Foundation is one of the largest private art collections in Spain, not to mention one of the most historically-rich ones as it contains items dating as far back as the 12th century.
